Sarah’s Key Review

Sarah’s Key Movie Review

The key is not only the driving force for Sarah to get out of the refugee camp, but also the source of her regret in her lifetime.

Moving back and forth with her father and mother in the refugee camp among the crowd, Sarah was always holding tightly that key in her hand. She thought that her brother’s destiny lied on that key, thus she struggled to get out from the refugee camp and managed to go back home. However at the moment when she opened the door of wardrobe.

Actually, if Sarah should have not locked her brother in the wardrobe, then the most possible result would be that all of their four family members would die in the refugee camp. Sarah was a young girl then, and she did not realize that the key in her hand could not control one’s destiny under that crude condition at all. Even if you save him from the hell, at the next moment he might be in the hell again.

Under the historical background of an anti-human society, “Sarah’s Key” reflects the dead-end struggle of common people against their miserable and tragic destiny. Even if one can get out under paws of the darkness, but when the darkness is gone, and even for many years, the scars and sores both on his body and soul remain and cannot be erased with glooming pain at some time.

In my opinion, the depiction of human nature, family love and modern youngster’s recognition of that time from this movie is not so serious or deep, which should be done better. If we cannot get to know and understand the history in the very depth, recognize with good awareness and code with the potential dangers with calm, then that dark time might come to its prime again in the future.

Maybe tomorrow is another future, and then “Sarah’s Key” is lying on your hand’; maybe the darkness is waiting for you on the next day, then you are going to be locked in the dark wardrobe, waiting with your heart beating up and down with great fear.

Hopeful, that day will never come true.
